Is there a way to adjust where the leader line intersects the text box of the Label Tool. Currently there are four options top, middle, bottom, or with a line below it. And in reality we need the upper intersection to occur at the center of the first line of text instead above.

Thus I wonder how hard or potentially disruptive it would be to adjust a tools settings, or are the settings not even remotely customizable?

Not AFAIK but a workaround is to place a few lines with a blank space on each at the top of the text block to 'push' the text down into place.
