PDF settings

When printing to adobe PDF documents with publisher, the PDF files seem to carry various layers of information from the model. I can see all these elements being drawn on top of each other when I open the PDF documents. Is there anyway to turn off these layers so that the PDF documents are "flat"? I want to keep the files as light as possible.

thanks
Paul

we use macs but also find that archicad spits out very large pdf files. our usual practice is to post-process the archicad pdfs in acrobat pro to reduce file size. a many-mb file can be reduced to less than a mb.

it would be great if archicad could publish optimized pdfs directly from the publisher.
