PM9 How to scale pen weights when Publishing?

Thomas Holm

On Archiguide, there's a tip on "How to scale pen weights with output scale in PlotMaker":
http://www.graphisoft.com/support/archicad/archiguide/ScalePenWeightinPM.html

First, this tip is incomplete on the Mac side. Please fix that, GS.

Second, I'd like to know how to implement this when I'm not plotting, just publishing to PDFs (or perhaps printing). No string "Scale Pen Weights" has appeared in the .plist file, and I'm not brave enough to insert it randomly. And I even don't know if it works outside of regular plotting.

I often create views (in AC) in 1:50 and re-use them in different scaling in layouts instead of creating identical views in different scales in AC. But this makes PMs capability of re-scaling pen weights important.

Any tip?

have you played around with the new "print options" button that is in publisher when you are outputting drawings? This may not be what you are looking for but if you are printing reduced sets and chose the scale within the print options it seems to scale line weights as well.

When i (in File>Publisher>Publish) use 'PDF' as Format, and 'Save Files' as Publishing method in View Set Publishing Properties, the only 'Scale' option available is in Document Options and it shrinks the whole shebang. It's not what i want, but very useful if you format your set for a print house's large-format printer, and want to preview it in-house before sending it away.

What I want is to scale each imported drawing's pens with the drawing itself when it is placed on the layout:
Drawing Settings -> Attributes / Output scale.

This works with Plotting as the Archiguide tip says, but not with Publish to PDF. Guess it's an oversight. Added to the wishlist.

Hello All,
Maybe I'm missing something.
The ArchiGuide tip reads:
...Open the file with Text Edit
Find ... the string 'Scale Pen Weights'...
Under this line change value to...
To what should this value be changed?

I'm trying to have an imported drawing's pens change scale along with the drawing's scale when published, eg:
- a view created at 1:200 in AC and scaled to 1:500 in PM would have the pen weights appropriately scaled.
Any help would be really appreciated.
