Paint Colours on Plan

Hi all

something that I've been about a while is how to quickly indicate on plan which walls will be painted a certain colour?
Some projects are easy as there is a general interior and exterior colour and thats that, but on some projects we have say 2 or 3 exterior colours and 5 interior colours so thats gets a bit tricky.

Up until now we indicate a particular wall colour by drawing a coloured line or fill along the perimeter of the wall and then linking that fill or line colour with the paint colour, but this is extremely tedious.

I can get quantities for paint etc no problem via the schedules but indicating the colour has been a bit of a problem.

We generally indicate colour finishes in written documentation (material and colour lists) or in some cases on interior elevations (if the project asks for this approach). I would dread to put it on floorplans. There is already so much text and annotation there, not to mention dimension lines.

Yes the floor plan method I described is not ideal.
How do you reference the colour back to the wall?
I thought about Interior Elevations but it would work for some and not all projects.
