Showing a story as more than a ghost

When I am trying to show my roof framing plan (log purlins) I have to show my bearing walls that hold them up. But the roof framing is drawn on my 'roof' story and the bearing walls are shown on my 'Loft' story.

How do I show my bearing walls and point load bearing columns (on seperate layers) that are on one story when I am looking at different story? I want to be able to print them both on one drawing.

I can not find a way to plot anything from one layer while plotting another. Can anyone help me out with this?

I found where I can turn certain opjects on to show on more than one story, but I need to show walls. (mostly). HELP!

Don't forget to do a few searches first mate. This was discussed not too long ago.

Check this out: http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=31286&highlight=overlay#31286

Sorry - never searched for this one. thanks for the link.

Not the answer I was looking for.

If the Walls were to have a setting that allowed viewing (not even editing would be required) on more than one story - that would answer this problem would it not?

Yes. But since there is no way of doing that this is the next best solution.

You could post this to the wishes section!

I find the easiest way to see the wall outline of another storey is to copy/paste these to the required storey and explode them where they become 2D lines and fills.

You can then edit the lines, fills and layer to suit your needs.

Remember that if you change your reference walls below you will also have to change these copied walls manually or repeat the above process.

Call me old fashioned, but overlaying in PlotMaker is still the best bet. The views are live, they update, no problem in setting different pens.

Until we see the walls on the storey above, of course ...
