Trace and reference view is slow

When working with Trace and reference in plan view everything gets very slow. When i move the cursor to the menu palette it responds. Any tricks to get a better performance or is it just a matter of getting stronger hardware ?

The most common advice is to try to not use Views as Trace Reference because then Archicad has to generate twice the data - one for your active Viewpoint, then another for the Trace Reference View. Try to use a Trace Reference with the same View Settings as the active Viewpoint.

Another thing you can try is to limit the type of elements that are displayed in the Trace Reference to only the ones you need, for example, only modeling elements, but no annotation elements. See if that improves the performance.
