im using archicad 7.0. is there any way to get the total volume of certain walls and/or slabs? it would make estimating much more simplified. thanks

select the specific walls before entering the Calculation's menu and then select one of the pre-set lists of your choice (both "Default" and "Basic" gives you surfaces and volumes).
These can then be saved as text for future usage

...or use "Window/Floating Palettes/Element information" palette to get your volumes extracted from the selected elements (can also be saved as text).

Calculate > List Elements > Basic after selecting walls for 7.0 US. No Default in my installation. You can of course create a customized list scheme to filter just the info you want and extract the needed data. As Suzanne says, save and manipulate in Excel/etc.

This feature is not present in 7.0. Among the reasons to upgrade to 9.0 (or to have upgraded before to 8.1) is this feature and the Interactive Scheduler, which can also provide you with wall volumes in a friendlier interface.

PS It was so weird opening 7.0 to look at this... feels like so long ago...

PPS Suzanne: what a great photo of you jumping - beautiful horse and form! My wife evented when she was young; does dressage these days.

Isn't there some kind of default pre-set list in the US version? A list that just gives the user basic info?

Oops, sorry about that. I had both 7, 8.1 and 9 open at the same time and must have checked the 8's by mistake.
But your right an upgrade to 9 won't disappoint the user ...

I know the feeling. Of and on we get support questions involving DWG settings for 7.0. Talk about being lost there ...

Having horses is a good way of letting the body do some hard work and let the brain rest after a whole day in front of the computers. I just love it

Yes; called "Basic". But, I see what you must be thinking ... it is in the "Default Set" if one goes to customize list schemes. So, we're saying the same thing. 😉
