plotmaker 3.1 error message

When I go to bring up Plotmaker I am getting the message "Please do not modify the resource file", and then I am exited from plotmaker. Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks in advance

You have a virus rampant in your machine ... clean the thing.

No virus. Our office has good network, file and software management. I am going to reload 8.1. Stay tuned. Thanks
