Tube with Resol shows 3D lines

JGoode

Hello,

I have used a Tube to replace a series of cylinders and elbows to combine them, the problem I'm running into is that when setting a RESOL for the tube, it shows 3D lines along the edges. But without setting RESOL, there is no lines in 3D which is the way I want it to be. Is there a way to stop this from happening as the polycount is just too high with whatever the default RESOL is?

Many thanks

RESOL should only affect the number of lines you see in the round profile.

What status code have you used for the edges of the tube profile.

Can you show an image of the lines?

Without defining RESOL, I think it uses a default value of 36 segments per 360°.

So if you define RESOL 18, it should actually reduce your poly count.

I higher figure will of course increase it.

Attached are the 2 images. It seems that setting RESOL 24 is completely fine, but RESOL 23 brings up the lines

Ah, I had it as 900 and 4001 instead of 901 and 4001! It was just a bit confusing that 24 resol was showing fine but 23 and below wasn't. Thank you very much!

I am not sure why RESOL 23 / 24 has an effect on the line visibility, but it does.

The centre point (900) needs the extra status (901) as the mask or status values affect the next node.

The 4000 / 4001 will actually have no effect, I tend to add the same status/mask to all nodes, until they need to change again.
