Hello Graphisoft Community,
We’d like to share one of our completed projects designed in the fire-prone Oakland Hills of California. This luxury hillside residence was rebuilt after the original home was destroyed in a wildfire, requiring both resilience and livability in the new design.
The steep and narrow lot (with a 30-foot drop from street to rear yard) created major design and construction challenges. Our team at TECHNE Architecture & Development managed the process from site analysis through permitting and construction coordination, ensuring faster approvals in a complex jurisdiction.
Key aspects of the project:
- Fire-rated materials for code compliance and long-term resilience
- 3D massing studies to balance privacy, daylight, and outdoor flow
- Expansive glazing and natural finishes for a modern, livable aesthetic
- Comfortable indoor-outdoor living that performs to current fire-zone standards
