Community Restructure: Discover what's new and improved

Dear members of our community,

We are thrilled to share the updates to the site we have just made.

Our team has been reorganizing our platform's content, focusing on forum discussions and knowledge base articles.

We have created new top-level categories that will enhance your user experience. Let's dive into the details!

Introducing the new top-level categories

Previously, we categorized the content based on five main topics and workflow stages: Design, Document & Visualize, Collaborate, Setup & License, and Get Together. We have now reorganized the content to better align with the types of activities that our community engages in. This new logic has resulted in four main categories: Forum, Knowledge Base, Building Together, and Developer Hub.

We hope you find the content you seek and engage with your peers more easily.

Forum

Discussions are organized into the following boards: Installation and update, Licensing, Getting started, Modeling, Libraries & objects, Documentation, Visualization, BIMx, Project data & BIM, Teamwork & BIMcloud, Collaboration with other software, and Our Community.

We have created a new page that lists all the forum boards to provide you with a quick and comprehensive overview of all the available boards and their respective topics.

The new Forum page contains several new components:

    • The list of forum boards – Displays all available forum boards with descriptions of their topics. Each board shows the total number of posts, as well as the number of new posts* since your last visit. Additionally, you can see the time of the last post made, and clicking on it will take you directly to the last posted message. This makes it easier to keep up with ongoing conversations.

    • Most popular labels - This is a selection of labels with high traffic and topics that are essential and often searched for and, thus, are worth checking, especially for newcomers.
    • Posting guidelines – Posting rules and guidelines are now more easily accessible to you.
    • Knowledge base – before posting a question, we encourage you to check out the articles on your topic of interest.
    • Need technical support? – We wanted to make it easier for you to contact your local support provider. But before doing so, please check out this article, which describes what you can expect when requesting support.
    • Subscribe button (also on each forum board) – previously, you could manage your subscriptions only in your user profile. The same options are now easily accessible on the pages you want to subscribe to.
    • New "Users online" – it is good to see how many users are online simultaneously and some familiar faces.

New extra components: Unread Posts and Unanswered Topics – the accessibility of these is tied to specific higher community ranks. These components will help you stay up-to-date with the latest posts and changes on the forum.

Given that this forum is conducted in English, we want to make it easier for those who may not be comfortable posting in English to explore communities in other languages. As such, you will now see links to these communities when starting a new topic.

To maintain clarity in our forum conversations, we have implemented a new rule: threads that have been inactive for over a year will now be automatically locked, preventing further replies. This is to avoid confusion caused by replies to long-abandoned threads that sometimes make it difficult to understand the context of a new reply.

While the Wishes forum continues to have its board and works as before, we are working on introducing an improved system for handling wishes that will better serve the needs of our community.

*Note: Please note that you may see an unusually high number of new and unread posts due to the relocation of existing posts to new categories and boards, making them appear as new on their current locations. You can mark all posts as read by going to the Options menuof the forum board and selecting the "Mark all as read" command.

Knowledge Base

Articles have been organized into these new categories: Installation & update, Licensing, Getting Started, Modeling, Libraries & objects, Documentation, Visualization, BIMx, Project data & BIM, Teamwork & BIMcloud, Collaboration with other software, and Our Community.

We have created a new page that lists all the knowledge base categories to provide you with a quick and comprehensive overview of all the available topics.

The new Knowledge base category page contains several new components:

    • The list of Knowledge Base categories - displays all available categories in the knowledge base with descriptions of their topics. Each category shows the total number of articles, as well as the time of the last article published.
    • Most popular labels – Similarly to the same component on the Forum category page, this is a selection of labels with topics often searched for that are worth checking, especially for newcomers.
    • A direct link to the Forum on the right helps you reach out to fellow community members quickly if you need help finding the answer to your question after browsing the knowledge base articles.
    • Need technical support? - Like on the Forum category page, we wanted to make contacting your local support provider easier for you. But before doing so, please check out this article, which describes what you can expect when requesting support.
    • The Subscribe button is similar to the button on the Forum pages. You can directly subscribe to knowledge base categories to get notified whenever a new article is published.

Developer Hub

We have established a dedicated ‘Developer Hub’ category to provide better support to our developer community. While the existing Developer forum has already been moved to this new section, we are also developing additional content for this space. Keep an eye on Graphisoft Insights for further updates on this ongoing project.

Other changes

  • To streamline and reorganize the previous What's New forum, which hosted various topics, we have introduced two new forum boards – Our Community and General Discussions. Our Community is dedicated to addressing questions about the community, the platform, and technical queries. General Discussions will host diverse topics such as job vacancies, competitions, events, and any other subject of interest from the AEC industry.
  • Additionally, we have created a new knowledge base category called Our Community, which includes articles describing the Community platform's functionalities.
  • We have moved the Let's Get Started articles from the Setup & License category to the Getting Started category under the Knowledge Base top-level category.
  • To make better use of screen space, we have widened the entire page layout.

Getting help and providing feedback

For information and help using the site, please refer to the articles in the Our Community knowledge base category.

If you have any questions about the platform's functionality or encounter any errors, please post them on the Our Community forum board.

Good to know

  • As we continue with our restructuring, you may notice label inconsistencies and experience some performance issues on the site. We appreciate your patience during this time.
  • If you had previously subscribed to certain topics of interest, we recommend going to your profile and clicking on the links provided in your subscriptions to find their new locations.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed and shown patience during the recent changes to our platform. We hope that the new layout is easier to navigate and more intuitive for you. We are committed to continuing to improve our community and value your suggestions. Thank you for being a valuable part of our community!
