Licensing issue at the time of opening educational project files in AC28 technology preview

The following dialogue box appears at the time when an educational project file opening is attempted. When the email is provided, and serial number (of AC27 educational license) is entered; it reports wrong information entry.

When you applied for the Technology Preview, were you sent an e-mail with a serial number?

If so, that is the number you need to use here.

No serial number was shared, similar to the last technology preview program. As it is mentioned somewhere on Tech Preview FAQ page, it is supposed to be a cloud license.

I don't have a cloud license so I am not 100% sure of the process.

Go into your Licence Manager, signed in with your Graphisoft ID.

Do you then see the cloud license?

If not can you request that cloud license?

Or maybe the cloud license has not been associated with your Graphisoft ID?

Go to ... https://id.graphisoft.com  and log in to see if you can find your license there.

Since you specifically mentioned opening an EDU project file, have you tried opening the default template?

Thanks Barry for your efforts to support!

I can see the cloud license, and it's not having any serial number (I have even tried some numbers/codes resembling to serial number there like - Subscription Benefits(493e27dd-5630-435a-ad02-1f238958d9f7); Archicad Technology Preview(7d31cc71-2440-4227-b5e4-085222db7c3c), but failed).

And, as I have written earlier, if I am opening a blank file and saving and reopening, there is no problem.

So you can open and run 28 Tech Preview?

Sorry, I just assumed you couldn't start 28.

It is probably because when you open an educational file, Archicad will try to switch to an educational mode.

Maybe the 28 tech preview software is not able to do this.

Or the cloud license does not have the capability to run in EDU mode.

Sorry for the confusion!

I am even able to run the education files on 28 tech preview, but with a workaround. I have to just start with a blank fresh project, and then open my educational file by double clicking on it. Opening directly is not feasible right now and even opening the file from within archicad by browsing (cm/ctrl + O) is not working. Also, it remains problematic sometimes, with even the workaround I mentioned.

am a bit lost what's happening on your Archicad. What I know with the tech preview it will be linked on your Graphisoft ID.

Secondly if am not mistaken you cannot simply open EDU file if you are not using EDU versions of Archicad.

In the end what is your Objective?
ArchiCAD 9 onwards

Actually EDU files can be opened in the normal version. It's just that the project gets converted into educational one with watermark and other restrictions etc.
