ArchiStair serializing issues

Anonymous
Not applicable
Apparanetly the original ArchiStair toppic is having problems. But anyway, I am having a tricky problem with ArchiStair. Since it's tied to the ArchiCAD key, it can become tricky, since we sometimes switch the keys between the computers in the office (depending... on a number of things).

Basically, we have a situation where a version of ArchiStair has been serialized with one key, and I have a different key that I want to use on that computer. Is there a way to get it re-serialized for the new one? I tried putting in the serial number and unlock code for the new key but it doesn't want to take it and keeps giving me problems. Any idea on what the solution woul be other than switching keys?

The serialization process is tied to the ArchiCAD dongle (as several warning messages say, during this procedure).
This means the obtained unlock code works only with that dongle.
If you want to use the plug-in with more than one dongle you should buy one Registration ID for each ArchiCAD dongle, otherwise, the only obvious solution, is to connect that dongle on the computer where you want to use the plug-in.

Maybe I did not explain my problem correctly. Let's say that computer (we'll call it X) ran with dongle A, but for some reason now I need to have it run with dongle B. Both dongle A and B have been serialized and unlocked to work with ArchiStair (i.e.: I have licenses for both). Computer X's ArchiStair was originally serialized to run with dongle A, but now I need it to run under dongle B. AC doesn't have a problem with it, and I tried giving AS the serial and unlock code of dongle B, but it doesn't like it and I don't know how to change it.

Don't know if it's making any more sense now. It's probably not what usually happens in other offices, but for some odd reason that's easier for us to do at times (switch keys from one computer to another rather than moving people to different stations).

Ok, let me try to be more... clear!

Let's suppose the AC dongle A got the unlock code xxx (and you wrote down it) and teh AC dongle B got the unlock code yyy (and you wrote down it) .
When you plug the dongle A serialize the add-on with the unlock code xxx and when you plugn the dongle B serialize the add-on with the unlock code yyy.
You simply have to serialize the add-on with the proper unlock code.

And therein lies the problem. I would also think that it SHOULD work this way, but when I tried that, I could never get it to accept the proper code (I even tried putting in the codes for the other key, just to check - same response: didn't work). I don't know if I should try re-seri_al_izing since I have all the codes I need, but it's not working by just typing in the proper codes.

Two possibilities:

1. (quite common) you are not typing the unlock code in the right field: a lot of user type it in the Registration ID field.

2. your administration rights are damaged.

write me privately (I don't think this issue is so important for everybody) sending the screen shot of any step you are doing in the serialization window...
