Archicad 14 - 3D freeze

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi all,

I installed archiCAD 14 on my new computer:
Windows 7 x64
core i7
4Gb ram
ATI FirePRO v3800

and I got trouble in the 3D view.

I can move very fast and everything works fine but if I change something like a texture directly in the 3D window and then try to moving again archicad just freeze. After some few seconds the application closes and I got a bug report.

this appears on different projects. I got the latest official drivers and the last update for archiCAD.

Thanks for your help

Hype23,
You will still need to provide some more information.
Is there anything in particular that is causing the crash?
Can you duplicate it or does it seem to be random?

You machine specs seem OK but I am not so sure about the video card - not a lot of memory - but I am no expert when it comes to this.
However I would download the latest video drivers from ATI and give those a try.
This quite often solves a lot of problems with Archicad.

As for the auto-save not working I am not sure.
I asume the educational vertion works the same as the professional but I can't say as I don't use it.
To test it you could check the settings and make sure it is set to save every 5 steps.
Then open an test file and draw 5 walls.
You should see a countdown at the bottom of the screen (so long as you don't touch the keyboard or mouse) and then a bulldozer as the autosave does a save.
Now open your task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and select the Archicad application and choose to "end task".
This is the same as Archicad crashing.
Now open Archicad up again and you should get a dialogue box showing an auto saved document is available.
If this doesn't appear then there is a problem with the settings in the work environment.
Maybe it is set to save to a location that you do not have write access to?

That is all I can think of trying for now.
Barry.
