Archicad 28 is constantly freezing or crashing, diving a Direct3D / graphics card error.
Archicad 27 and Archicad 26 do not have the same problem.
I've updated graphics drivers, and uninstalled / reinstalled Archicad to no avail.
I get the same error every time; sometimes, it's within seconds of opening the program. Other times, it can take several minutes. But it happens multiple times a day.
'Direct3D Runtime received a Device Removed Message DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG'
That's typically an issue with either the graphics card itself or the graphics card's connection the rest of the machine. However, this is the *only* program experiencing the problem, which is usually indicative of a glitch in the program or an incompatibility between the program and the graphics drivers.
These are two of the smallest projects I've ever done in Archicad, and the only two on 28 so far. Archicad 28 appears to be sending conflicting instructions to the GPU, which causes it to hang. No other programs are effected when it happens; in some instances, when it happens in one Archicad 28 file, it doesn't even impact the *other* Archicad 28 file I've got open.

I was going nuts with this problem! Thank goodness for this thread ❤️ disabling "Fade Environment" seems to be the quick fix.

Also, I have realised that the problem only appeared when I had my external screen connected and working with AC on that screen.
As long as AC is running on my laptop it seems to work just fine...

Ohhh...I just ran into this error on AC29...
...That's a worry...

Since we turned off "Fade Environment" in the design options, we had significantly less crashes. Give it a try if you have this problem.

The problem is that none of these projects have used Design Options - not even had the palette open. But perhaps it's one of those lurking errors that appear anyway...
...fingers crossed for a solution.

Yes I can confirm that this happend for us too. The checkbox itslef should be turned off even when you don't use design options and even when you don't have the palette visible. This decresed the amount of crashes significantly. Be aware that the checkbox did also turn itself on while opening the project, so always double check the checkbox 😄

Same here, Archicad 29 (AC28 also) crashes on Win11 several times a day. The Fade Environment function in Design Options is a key part of my workflow, so I won't even try to turn it off. But it's annoying.. Archicad crashes without sending an error report to GS.
PS: I have to admit that working on a Mac is a godsend compared to the stability on Windows. I also often get errors with invalid elements in Win and therefore ArchiCAD sometimes deletes some stairs etc. when I start the project. I have never experienced this on a Mac.

Have you tried setting up a custom graphic override instead of using "fade environment" then? Overrides should work different internally because with overrides we don't face regular crashes. It may be the way to go for you.

The issue reappeared for us.
Updating to the latest NVIDIA Studio driver (595.79) did not help.
We are running Desktop GPUs (NVIDIA 3060 and 4060).
We have standby disabled.
We see it in 27 and 28.
And we see the error "HUNG" and "REMOVED".
We did not have the time to contact support yet.
Also, based on this case, I have a hard belief that I could get second-level support. And first-level support won't be able to help in this case, besides the usual "reinstall Windows" troubleshooting steps. So unless the issue gets worse or we find a way to reproduce it, we just live with it.

Have you tried clean driver uninstall with 3d Guru Uninstaller??
Also try changing the TDR timming just to see what happens....
