Archicad 28 introduces an innovative way to install the newest Hotfixes, Updates and Update Previews directly from the software.
With the help of automatic downloads of Archicad updates, Archicad will automatically check and download its available updates in the background, so that you can install them later at any time.
Once an update is downloaded, Archicad will send you a notification on the Home screen, but the installation will not start until you do so. The downloaded updates will be available for installation on the About page of the Home screen.
To manage which update types do you want Archicad to check for, open the Options > Work Environment > Updates and Network menu.
There are three possible settings:

Downloading the selected hotfixes and updates automatically is set by default, but you can turn this off by unmarking the checkbox at the bottom.
If you would like to perform companywide network installation from Command Line, you can set the default values of this update setting. These parameters are not listed in the available standard parameters list but can be used to customize unattended Archicad installation.
You can Enable/Disable Automatic Download (enabled by default) and define which update type should be downloaded automatically. The default value of this Automatic Download Preference, is update, meaning it notifies for official Updates and Hotfixes only.
For a Teamwork project for example, by selecting Hotfixes only (hotfix value), users will only be available to install the newest Hotfixes, which won’t break compatibility in the project file.

Another feature set is coming that will focus on the Teamwork aspects of this automatic update and will make the Teamwork workflow easier, including the ability to disable these update settings in a Teamwork environment.
