Inconsistent Display of 'Info & Preview' Tab for PLN Files in File Explorer

Josh Verran

In File Explorer, I've noticed an inconsistent behavior when right-clicking on PLN files to view Properties. Specifically, some files display an Info & Preview tab, while others don't.

To investigate, I've had team members on different PCs, working with varying files and Archicad versions, send me screenshots. Despite this, I haven't been able to identify a pattern to determine whether this is tied to the file itself, system settings, or user configurations.

Does anyone have insights on how to consistently get the Info & Preview tab to show for all PLN files?

If it is different files on the same machine (same network location), then I am not sure.

If it is happening to all files on the same machine then I am not sure if this will work or not, but it could be worth a try.

It won't harm anything.

In File Explorer go to the Archicad Program folder.

In there you will see a folder for "Graphisoft Shell Extension'.

In there you will see a 'Register.bat' file.

Double click it to run it.

A window will briefly open and the file will run.

Try the properties now.

You may need to restart the machine.

But as I mentioned, I am not sure if that will solve the problem.
