Mouse wheel zooming-not

In AC8 my mouse wheel zoomed in and out as it should. In AC9 it just scrolls. How can I fix this?

Thanks,
Steve

I have never heard of any issues on a PC with the mouse software not working properly, but on the Mac when you load the software thing go haywire and nothing seems to work right. Very similar to what you're describing. If you do have mouse software loaded you may want to disable it's features for ArchiCAD.

Pushing it allows me to pan, but turning it just scrolls. Anyone? I'm starting my first job in 9 tomorrow.

Thanks,
Steve

In 9 there is a new button to the left of the magnifier button that allows you to zoom in or out with the scroll button.

It has an empty lens with a ± to the right of it.

check your mouse settings under control panel, verify that scroll wheel is not assigned to any "weird" action also if the mouse is logitech check the box for "MSWord compatibility".

Try holding down the CTRL key as you scroll.

Holding Ctrl is the answer - it was the same in AC8, AC 8.1 and in AutoCAD, MAX and CorelDraw.

I think it is a Windows problem that will never be fixed since it occurs in Win98, Win 2000 and (it seems) XP.

I could say some nise things to Bill Gates but they will be sensored...

It is possible that you have installed some brand of "Mouse Software". Intellimouse for example requires that one go into the control panel and specify that softwares like ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, Max, etc. can override or disable normal mouse behavior and control it themselves.

Usually these "exceptions" are set up in Advanced settings of the mouse software.

Unless you are using something other than a 2 button mouse with a scroll wheel, I usually recommend that users NOT install any software that came with the mouse and the mouse will behave correctly in ArchiCAD.

Holding down the Control key is great if it works for you but it's an extra step you shouldn't need to use if you mouse is properly configured.

Checking out the manual might be a good idea
