OSX wont let me launch AC with a WkServer but XP does

Hi, i am having trouble connecting to my works server with Leopard to use our license through internet so we can work on the go. Xp lets me connect right away. Ive used an IP-adress before once to try the wkserver if it works and it did. but this time its not an IP-add but a Server name.

Am I missing something here?

You're welcome. It is almost sounding like something with your router at home. Is it possible that you had set up port forwarding on the router for your XP machine? If so, you will have to do the same for your Mac's local IP address (192.168.xx.yy) in the router security panel, which is usually reached by http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 depending on if you have a separate DSL modem, etc...

one thing ive noticed though, in XP the Wibu searches for the key for a long time, longer than when i use it at work connected with LAN cable to server and much faster than using the WIBU-USB. But in Leopard it takes no time at all for it to say that there is no valid key to find... its like its not even searching. even tho i think it does but gives up very quickly... weird!
Network browsing in general is painfully slow on XP, and instantaneous on OS X - one of the 100's of reasons I switched to Mac this year. The following old tip is not what you want - it is about speeding up WIBU access on Windows for a local USB plug (windows otherwise SLOWLY scans all of those other ports):

http://www.archicadwiki.com/TechNotes/Limiting_the_ports_that_WIBU_scans?highlight=%28wibu%29%7C%28p...

But, perhaps there is something in the WIBU settings dialog - when displayed with all options as in the article above - which lets you specify the exact IP address of the server, which would eliminate some searching.

Good luck. Look forward to hearing what solves your problem.
