Problems with Video Display on a new Aluminum iMac

I have had this happen on two different IMacs and only when we run AC 11.

It seems to be triggered by Itunes running at the same time.

Has anyone else witnessed this before? Any suggestions?

So far no problems to report but I'll hold my breath.

I just hope for some improvements because now I'm obliged to finish most of my files in 2D (!) worksheets....

I introduced an other architect (dealing with the same ATI issue over the last 4 months) in the world of ArchiCAD BIM. He send me an email "thank you a lot, Bying Is a Mistake - back to AutoCad 2008".

Come on GS, my reseller isn't aware of any problem, do you guys have sorted this out with Apple?

I updated with 10.5.4 yesterday and that does not seem to fix the problem........

No single AC crash,
No freezing in scroll modus,
No "broken glass",

since updating to OS 10.5.4. I've been working / testing my "problem files" day and night.... over the last week.

Folks,

Do any of you that now have and use AC 12 along with OS 10.5. still have the screen freeze issue or has this finally been corrected with the latest version of the OS and AC?

Just wondering...

I was wrong.
Certainly not solved with OS 10.5.4.
I had it happen again early yesterday while working in AC10.

Apple repair center advised me to format harddisk and have a clean install of OSX.
It took me 6 hours to rebuild. No succes.
A never ending story that started exactly 6 MONTHS ago.

Yikes. That's the kind of lousy advise (reformat the disk) that Dell and other Windows people give.

On the Mac, if your hard disk is big enough, it is generally trivial to create a new bootable disk partition using the standard Disk Utility and to install a fresh (or cloned) copy of the OS there, and then reboot from that partition - leaving your 'life' (on the original partition) untouched in case the 'experiment' goes nowhere (as in your case).

Bummer that this condition continues on the iMac. The various updates for the MacPro completely resolved the issue for me.

I contacted Apple two weeks ago on this issue. They have told me that the issue is related to GS and not Apple. I asked for a return to a new system and that I was willing to pay the difference. They refused!

I had it happen on Artlantis last weekend while AC was running in the background....

There are unconfirmed rumors in Apple Forums that 10.5.5 will have new OpenGL and Video drivers for the video cards.
