Into our completely mac-based office, a new guy (civil engineer) has moved. He uses a Dell can with Windows XP Pro.
Now I've set up our network so almost everything works for him as it does for us others. He can access our OSX10.2.3 file server (OSX Client and Sharepoints), he can print to our Laserwriter, and browse the Internet through the network router.
But one thing doesn't work. His machine doesn't see our old Epson Stylus Photo EX which is serially connected to a beige G3 using Epson Stylus RIP, which lets all the other Macs print to it like any network-connected Postscript printer. (StylusRIP is a software Postscript RasterImageProcessor that only runs on MacOS9)
I've tried all options I can imagine. The delivered Windows postscript drivers, Apple's Laser drivers, and I've downloaded Adobe's latest XP drivers, all to no avail.
I know that connecting the SPEX to an OSX Mac and printing with Gimp-print and printer-sharing it should work, but that third-party solution prints at only half the speed of Stylus RIP and also gives less control over the printer and the results. I want Postscript and Stylus RIP to work, and I can't see why it shouldn't when all the above works.
I know there are people on this forum that use StylusRIP - perhaps someone has an idea on how to print to it from Windows?
