Slow User Interface Performance

I use ArchiCAD 9 Build 2045 USA FULL on Tiger 10.4.1.

I am not sure if this is something that just started happening, if it started with the upgrade to Tiger or the if the latest upgrade to ArchiCAD which came out a few weeks ago triggered it, but I experience what I consider to be extremely slow user interface performance. Basically what happens is whenever I change tools or select an object of a different type the interface freezes for a second. I tracked the problem down to the Info Box. What I think is happening is that the info box is redrawing info for the newly selected tool and it takes a second to calculate it. With info box closed I have little or no user interface lag. I have my info box at default width but at going down entire length of left side of my screen. Yes, it is large but it is the same setup I used with ArchiCAD 8.1.0 v2 (2284) with no UI lag. In ArchiCAD 8.1 info box changes almost instantaneously. Now one second doesn't sound like a lot of time but I find myself waiting for the UI almost every time I want to perform a command and it is really annoying and unproductive. I am working on a project in 8.1 and some other projects in 9.0 right now and it seems like I work much slower in 9 because of it.

I use a Dual 2.5 GHz G5 w/ 2.5 GB Ram and a NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL graphics card so I am pretty sure that my Hardware is not to blame (plus 8.1 works great). What have other people's experiences been running ArchiCAD 9? Is anybody else experiencing what I am talking about? If this is some kind of display bug Graphisoft needs to fix it right away, if it is not then I don't know what to say.

P.S. - Also have major IU lag in object viewer; sometime is can take several seconds to update preview window when new object is selected.

the object preview box can be slow in 3D..... but my slow Macintosh interface days ended long ago.

Are you using the recommended locations for temporary files?

I am not sure what the recommended locations for temporary files are but I am using the default areas (which I assume are recommended). Do you use Tiger?

I figured out the solution to my ArchiCAD speed problems. It seems that ArchiCAD slows down if it is left open for a long time. I typically leave all my key applications open all the time since OS X came along. As of yesterday (when I felt the slowdown the most) my ArchiCAD 9 probably had not been quit in about a week or maybe two (I can't remember). Anyway moral of the story is ArchiCAD 9 needs to be rebooted every once in a while for optimum performance. I did not have to reboot the system to get the speed boost so its likely an ArchiCAD issue but at least there is an easy work around. Can't remember this effecting v8.1 the same way cause I leave it open all the time also. Anyway happy to be back at full speed for now.
