Switching to a mac

OK, Sorry guys it's been a while. I am finally switching! DJ you will be amused . I have checked the forums and have read over your posts a number of times and haven't found exactly what I am looking for. Ok I am still on 9 and will be for a time. We use XP archicad ver9 machines. I still have my dell at home and I want to start (as soon as I get it from backorder) using my new mac book pro 17 in with 2 gig of ram intel duo bad boy. First I saw some guys like matt using it in rosetta and it seemed to work fine, any updates on how it is working?

My last question is what is my installation procedure, anything complicated?

Last I heard the AC installer still did not work on the MacIntels. You have to install it on a PPC Mac and copy the installation folder onto the MacIntel.

Good to see you back, Shae.

I would wait for the native 10 that should come out soon ... until then, find someone with a PPC having enough disk space, install there, firewire it across.

I haven't had any problems with installs. Isn't it just the key upgrade that doesn't work on the Intel Macs?

BTW. AC9 in OSX/Rosetta is very nearly as fast as it is running native in XP/BootCamp. Haven't had time to compare on 10 yet.

Hey all,
Two weeks of working in ac9 with little or no problems. The only tough thing is getting used to the apple key instead of the control key. It does get a little frustrating going from apple at home (moonlighting) to pc at work. I have to do the mental adjust every morning. Coffee Helps!

What was your motivation to start wearing a white hat?

Well oddly enough ....cost. I compared them both and dollar for dollar apple came with more. I for the first time had an accurate speed for dollar comparison. Both have the same chip. Have to say also that viruses was a motivation too, as well as security. But really it started with price. I still am having trouble getting adjusted to mac os, but I have been working on PC's for so long. Once I get used to it, it will probably be better in the long run. Gates has all the money he wants, so what is his motivation for making his product better? Jobs has a lot further to go.

Dear Sir,

could I ask you if you have ever encountered the following problem on Intel-based MacOS 10.4.7 MacBookPro:

MightyMouse centralbutton scroll button on one day stopped supporting the clos-in and close-out feature. The touch-pad seized to support it as well on the same day. Why? This makes work really unconvenient and mouch longer.

Ehat I could say about Rosetta and ArchiCAD 9.0 is that I had encountered practically no other unconvenience in operating ArchiCAD on it.

But I'm a newcomer to ArchiCAD 9.0 version because I had switched from ArchiCAD 6.5 on blue350/MacOS 8.6 old machine just in December last year. I had been working on G5 desktop under MacOS X for few months until buying Intel-based MacBook in May this year.

Could you be so willingful to spare your time giving me any hint on this problem?
