Can you trim a wall to the stairs if the wall is not on top of the stairs. It is running alongside the stairs but will not trim with seo.

Solid element operations only trim elements that physically intersect. I always have a solid elements operations layer for keeping "operators" that can be used for trimming but never show in any views. Perhaps this would work for your needs.
