Utility software for a server

A while back i tried running norton utilities on a server running OS 10.2 Server. When I tried this the computer froze up. Is it not ok to run that type of utility software on a dedicated server? Is there a similar utility that should be run on a server? Similar to the way you run Norton Disk Doctor and Speed Disk on a workstation?

I have found Norton to be a mixed bag over the years. Sometimes it's a lifesaver and other time it causes problems. I would not run any utilities on a server aside from diagnostics unless there area actual problems; you are likely to create more trouble than you prevent.
