Graphisoft Licence Disaster!

Messaging here in desperation!

We need immediate Graphisoft intervention to allow us to keep working please.

 

Graphisoft have just completed the migration steps for our legacy BIMcloud onto the new BIMcloud and NOW we have a HUGE issue.

 

Yesterday we had 28 users on our BIMcloud working on teamwork files. Now we only have 14. This coming Monday 14 staff will not be able to work, which is completely unacceptable!


When we met with [Graphisoft]  and Central Innovation [CI] in September 2024 we were advised that we could only update the 14 AUD licences we had not any of the international and contractor licenses our teams also use BUT that we didn’t have to worry as the remaining licences could be hosted as SaaS licences on the same BIM Server. Ie Everyone working together as they always have. Simple! 

 

CI have just called [credit to them for responding on a Saturday]  to say that the previous advice we’ve been given by Graphisoft and CI is WRONG and that non AUD licences not on collaborate cannot be used on the new BIMcloud! WHAT!? This not only contradicts all your previous advice but now we’re looking down the barrel of having staff not being able to work and potentially throwing away close to $100K of software  purchased from Graphisoft. This is real for us guys.

 

This is extrememly dissapointing and requires your intervention immediately please.

 

We need our staff to be able to work just like they were doing on Friday afternoon before your forced intervention. These decisions you make and then change without notice impact our business and peoples livelihoods. This is abig deal.


Please someone implement some commone sense and keep the team working on Monday and beyond.

Do you mean BIMCloud Basic / BIMServer to BIMCloud SaaS? Hosted locally to hosted in the the cloud by GS?

I am interpreting this as your company having 14 AC28 licences with contractors bringing their own? As far as I know, the new BIMCloud is SaaS, so I am assuming you are now paying for 14 BIMCloud licences which have automatically been assigned to each AC28 licence?

 

If this is the case, then you will need to get additional BIMCloud SaaS licences that can be assigned to your contractors, or have your contractors acquire their own BIMCloud SaaS licence and enable BYO licences on your hosted server. 

 

If instead this "Upgrade" was to a Collaborate licence then the issue of compatibility. BIMCloud via Collaborate licences are incompatible with BIMCloud SaaS. This incompatibility was brought up previously in AC27 and for a distributor to not know such a major limitation is a big issue... I do not think that his limitation has changed as I feel like there would be a bigger hooha about it if it did happen and updates to the relevant threads, but I do not use either so...

The post  was mostly to Graphisoft as we have staff who can’t work on Monday and we have no way of contacting them directly.

To be clear, It wasn’t just the reseller it was Graphisoft who advised us directly there would be no downtime and no change to our work flow if we upgraded.

If we can’t use all the licences we’ve purchased on the same projects on the same server then The system and incompatibility they’ve designed makes no sense! It is not “collaborate” it’s “criminal”.

 

We have 14  AU standalone licences purchased being hosted on BIM Saas (legacy server). We have 6 INT standalone licence on the same BIM Saas. We also have 8 contractor AC licences hosted on the same BIM Saas.


Thats 28 AC licences hosted on BIM Saas without an issue. This was all

Working on the Friday just gone. All was fine.

 

20AC licences are ours (14 AU & 6 INT) and 8 contractor licences (3AU &  5 INT) 

 

We were incentivised  to covert our licences to collaborate. We tried converting all 20 but were told the incentive was only for AU licences. So only 14 converted. We still have 6 INT licences we’ve paid for overseas staff.

 

Our 20 & 8 other AC licences all working on the same projects on the same server.


We were told all our protects needed to shift onto a new server and that nothing would change. Graphisoft do this all the time and that you’d be up and running in one evening with no down time. We were assured no issues. All Licences working as they were previously.

 

That now appears to be incorrect. The result is 14 staff tomorrow cannot work on our projects.

 

6 INT licences we’ve purchased now can’t work with the 14 other licences we’ve purchased ~$50k that may be useless. How is that possible? This is not right. It makes no sense and contradicts any concept of consumer fairness and more so what we’ve been advised by Graphisoft.

Please Graphisoft we need all our licenses working Monday as they were on Friday.

@F_Arch  This sounds like a true disaster for your business… but do note that these forums are not a way to contact Graphisoft…although with luck, someone might randomly see your posts here, especially if a moderator such as @Laszlo Nagy  calls it to someone’s attention for when they arrive at work on Monday morning… which will be hours after your Australian Monday morning…

 

This is a user to user community primarily, so your post will mostly serve to warn fellow users about what has happened to you..including a warning to all of us to not make a subscription change on a Friday.

So sorry to read about your experience!  Hope Graphisoft can resolve this for you quickly.

As an update.

I housld note Central Innovation were great in helpng to keep us productive while this being resolved.

Their BIM Specialist, Mrinal, returned my call on Saturday, and tried to reolve the issue which was a pleasant surpirse and very appreciated.

 

On Monday CI issued us with 14 additonal [monthly] collaborate licences to ensure that the team could keep working. This has bught us time while they triage and implemet a permanent fix.
