building stairs or a ramp to a floating platform

I am very new to ArchiCAD, so you may have to forgive my ignorance. I am attempting to build a set of stairs to and from a floating platform that is not associated with a floor level. I am also attempting to create a 1' thick ramp system to the same platform, kind of a sculptural quality like the Penguin pool at the London Zoo.

P.S. I am a student and have a student version of ArchiCAD 9.

Cynthia:

1. For the stairs you can:
A. Create one tread, then go to Edit>Multiply to create copies of the tread that also increase in elevation.
B. Fool around with the Stair Tool.
2. For the ramp you can:
A. Use the Roof tool.
B. Use the Curved Ramp object (in 03 Concrete 9 > Concrete Structures 9 folder)
C. Use the Mesh Tool to create the ramp, then use a copy that is lower to subtract the bottom portion.

You should use the "Search" feature of the forum for more hints and information about these approaches.

Thank you, David, for the information. I attempted the "search" on previous posts, but was unable to find anything useful, or too ignorant to be able to narrow my serch results. I will definitely give it a try.
Thanks again,

That is a shame, because there have been some good posts on ramps and stairs. If you get stuck, you might want to post some images, so we have an idea of what you are trying to accomplish.
