Hello:
My husband is a wonderful architect; his drafting and engineering skills are beautifully honed. However, he does it all by hand! I am hoping that perhaps he can make the switch to Archicad (Apple) relatively easy. Any comments? Also, how big an Apple does he need for this program? Is it possible to only run the program on his back up hard drive, which he uses to back up his MacBook Pro 4?

Find someone near you who already does Archicad - maybe one of the local moderators, Karl Ottenstein? - and let that person have a good chat with your husband.
Architects are a funny sort ... but then, you and my wife (whose father is also an architect!) know best😉
