how can i get my drawings to use different pen weights. right now my lines are all the same.

It is using it, you just don't see it.

Do you want to see it and print it? Go to Display options, set the True Weight on.

From PlotMaker this comes as default.

... you may find that you have to zoom in closely (I would recommend to a 'door' or somesuch to keep a sense of scale) so that you can perceive the lineweights on a computer screen ...
