mac screen flicker/blinking

John Weaver
Participant
This has been covered on older versions of software and seen fixes mostly for windows, but, after upgrading my iMac 27" 3.2 ghz core i5 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M 1024 MB graphics card to Yosemite and using AC v18, my screen will start to flicker or blink when I am doing simple tasks like zooming in or even moving elements. Anyone know how to fix this

I'm getting this issue when I am rendering too. I also noticed that this flickering can occur when I am working on a surface within the surfaces attributes window.

Guys,
Take a look at my video in this link and see if this is the same thing you are experiencing? Every Mac in our office has this happening in AC 18 / Yosemite. This behavior is new and exclusive to Yosemite.

I have just spotted that I have the 3D cutting planes turned on whilst working on a floor plan and there appears to be a significant impact on the screen refresh rate compared to turning the cut planes off.

P.S. I don't know when or how they got turned on for the plan view where I assume they have little use?
Apple iMac Intel i9 / macOS Sonoma / AC27UKI (most recent builds.. if they work)

When you save a View of the 3D Window the Cut Plane state is stored in the View. If you then go back to the Floor Plan (without activating a Floor Plan saved View) then the 3D Cutting Planes will be ON in the Floor Plan as well. This might be a cause.

Eric,

My browsers says your site is not private so I don't dare going there.
Can you put it on Dropbox or something?

Sorry, I pasted the secure https link but the same link should work with http. This is a server that I run in my office, it just doesn't have a certificate issued to it.

Otherwise here is a dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ob7kanniuv8dxi/IMG_2300.MOV?dl=0

Eric,
I will let GS know about this video. Although I think they are already investigation it it will still be useful for them to see the exact phenomenon.

I have already sent it a week or two ago. They have seen it and haven't been able to offer any suggestions yet.

I'd be interested to know if anyone experiences less flickering with OS X 10.10.2.

Preliminary reports are maybe encouraging, but its too early to tell.

Unfortunately as of today we can not reproduce this issue...Can you get the phenomena to appear over and over following a certain workflow? If so, please comment or pm your steps to me! Thanks, kata
