macOS 15 Sequoia

Apple released the new macOS 15 Sequoia on September 16, 2024. We are thoroughly testing it to ensure compatibility with our products. Based on our current tests, Archicad operates with the issues listed below.

We will keep this article updated with any news, fixes, workarounds, issues, or limitations as we continue using macOS 15 Sequoia.

Archicad

Chevron icons are missing - fixed

Affected version(s): all Archicad versions | ID: DEF-20025

Issue
Chevrons are missing in the Archicad interface.

Workaround
No workaround.

Solution
This issue will be fixed in Archicad 27.3.0 and Archicad 28 Technology Preview Update.

Black squares in the font list - fixed

Affected version(s): all Archicad versions | ID: DEF-20406

Issue
When you open the font list, black squares are next to the font names.

Workaround
No workaround.

This issue will be fixed in Archicad 27.3.0 and Archicad 28 Technology Preview Update.

Double-clicking on an Archicad window title bar may not resize the workspace to fill - fixed

Affected version(s): all Archicad versions | ID: DEF-20325

Issue
If the relevant option is chosen in System Settings > Desktop & Dock, the Archicad workspace may not resize to fill after double-clicking on the window title bar. The rest of the window may stay grey.

Workaround
Use the default Zoom option or update the Work Environment in any way (choose any Work Environment profile or resize any palettes, toolbars, etc.).

Solution
This issue will be fixed in Archicad 27.3.0 and Archicad 28 Technology Preview Update.

Archicad workspace may not resize when using window tiling - fixed

Affected version(s): all Archicad versions | ID: DEF-20333

Issue
Depending on whether the Archicad window was smaller or larger before docking, a part of its window may become grey and unresponsive when docked or dragged after docking.

Workaround
Update the Work Environment in any way (choose any Work Environment profile or resize any palettes, toolbars, etc.).

Solution
This issue will be fixed in Archicad 27.3.0 and Archicad 28 Technology Preview Update.

Cineware crashes with an error message: "Cineware by Maxon add-on has unexpectedly closed."

Affected version(s): all Archicad versions | ID: DEF-22356

Issue
When attempting to render an image with Cineware or change the Surface Settings for the Cineware engine, it returns an error: "Cineware by Maxon add-on has unexpectedly closed.".

Workaround
Restart your device. If it does not help, replace the Cineware folder (/Applications/Graphisoft/<Archicad version>/Cineware) with the working one.

Solution
We're still actively investigating this issue. 

BIMcloud

We are not aware of any issues in BIMcloud.

Please note that there is a new security feature on Sequoia that blocks network searching. Make sure to authorize Archicad on the local network to access BIMcloud from Archicad.

More details

Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network and enable this setting for all Archicad versions.

BIMx

We are not aware of any issues in BIMx Desktop 2024.5910 or newer.

Before upgrading to Sequoia

Should you decide to upgrade, please follow the upgrade checklist below.

Upgrade checklist

• Study macOS Sequoia articles for any known issues and difficulties
• Back up all of your data, including Archicad- and BIMcloud-specific data before upgrading the operating system 
• Upload all Software keys to the License Pool
• Return all borrowed licenses before upgrading the OS
• Allow yourself enough time for the upgrade, do not upgrade the OS close to a deadline
• Install macOS Sequoia
• Install all updates for the new operating system
• Install all updates for Graphisoft products
• Install the macOS Sequoia compatible protection key driver
• Allow Full Disk Access for CodeMeter
• Test Archicad and BIMcloud

Archicad 28 & 27

• Archicad 28 FULL and SOLO are compatible and will receive compatibility updates.
• Archicad 27 FULL and SOLO are compatible and will receive compatibility updates.

Archicad 26 & Archicad 25 & Archicad 24

• Archicad 26 FULL and SOLO will start but not receive compatibility updates.
• Archicad 25 FULL and SOLO will start but not receive compatibility updates.
• Archicad 24 FULL and SOLO will start but not receive compatibility updates.

Archicad 23 & earlier

• Archicad 23 FULL and SOLO & earlier will not start.

Archicad STAR(T) Edition

• Archicad SE 2024 & earlier will not receive compatibility updates.
