new to archicad

i am new to archicad where do i get lessons for beginners, can i open 2 or 3 drawings at a time, can i open autocad dwg. in archicad, my version is archicad-9.

Your local dealer should offer such lessons. If not perhaps they can recommend an advanced user who could help you out.

Failing that someone like Link or myself could fly in for a week or so to provide both training and help with setting up standards and templates. This might be too expensive for your firm by itself, but you might be able to combine with some others to help with the cost. (I have always wanted to visit India )

You should also look into starting a users group. I started one in Washington DC, and now another in Santa Rosa CA, and I've found them to be tremendously useful for advancing the local practices and especially helpful to new users.

The answer is just a little more complex than the question. One ArchiCAD project model (PLN file) contains many drawings (usually all or most of the drawings for the project) so one session of ArchiCAD can open as many drawings as you want (limited only by memory AFAIK). To open multiple ArchiCAD projects requires opening multiple sessions of ArchiCAD. This happens pretty much automatically in Windows, but requires a little more effort on the Mac (in AC9 that is, AC10 is a bit easier).

Yes. ArchiCAD has very good DWG import features. There are a few tricks to learn because the building model environment is very different than the collection of DWG files that makes up the typical AutoCAD project. There are also some significant improvements in AC10.
