Sounds like a video card / display driver issue. Have you checked to make sure you are running the latest display driver for your video card?

Hello 3chorddelta!

Think about attaching a PrintScreen of your problem so we can understand it better. And: What does "stepping" mean?
Besides from that, I agree with David Larrew. It may be a videocard problem. Is it for instance a Nvidia card, you can go to the Nvidia website and upload the latest driver.
Of course it may also be a sign of too little RAM. I have experienced similar problems when my ArchiCAD model has become to complex for my RAM. ArchiCAD goes slower and I get lines wrong in both screen and paper.

This is wise advice regardless of the manufacturer - updating the driver - if the user is on Windows, which we do not know. That is why it is important for everyone asking a question to post what kind of machine, OS, etc they are using in their question or preferably their signature (accessed via the text link "Profile" near the top right of this page).

If 3chorddelta is on a Mac, then Apple's software update will provide whatever is the most up to date drivers and firmware for cards delivered with the Mac.

3chorddelta, I really think we need some kind of screenshot - as the fact that you see this when printing also suggest something more than just video. Unless what you are printing are screen images.

Thanks,
Karl
