Hey everyone,
I've been working further on migrating to Archicad 28 and I have one question:
I read that libraries should be migrated automatically. So I downloaded an Archicad file from our Archicad 26 BIMcloud and opened it locally in Archicad 28. When I did that, I got a warning message – but after clicking "Continue," it seemed like all libraries were there.
Here’s what the Library Manager looks like in the 26 BIMcloud version:
And here’s the Library Manager in Archicad 28:
So... it looks like the library was still migrated, right?
When I check the warnings, the only one that comes up is about Tolerance.gsm, which I assume is normal.
I then uploaded the file to the BIMcloud 28, and the libraries show up correctly there too.
I just want to double-check – is it safe to say nothing is missing? I am surprised where did Archicad find the whole Archicad Embedded Bibliotek as that includes a lot of random printscreans people uploud from their personal computers.
I also tried saving the Archicad 26 file as a PLA and then opened it in Archicad 28 — but in that case, the whole library gets saved somewhere on the disk, and it doesn’t seem to migrate to 28 properly (which I assume is not ideal?). Many of the Archicad 26 objects stay as Archicad 26 versions, and I guess it would be better if they were converted into Archicad 28 objects instead?
So I’m a bit confused about the correct way to migrate a project from Archicad 26 to 28 and for sure keep the whole library
Thanks a lot for any help / opinion😊
Operating system used: Windows 11 Pro 23H2

Not sure if equivalent, but I'm having a similar issue with a file that was converted from AC26 to A28 and having to re-import the 26 library every time upon open. Seems to work fine after adding the 26 in library manager but gets tedious having to do it multiple times per day... and makes me a little nervous that some things might be defective or missing.

Do you mean you have to re-load the libraries for the same file multiple times pre day or each time you open an different file?
Once you have established the library path for a file, it should not change.
If your 26 library is not located in the same location it always has been, then you will have to re-establish the path in the Library Manager.
For example if your files are loading the 26 library in the Archicad 26 program folder, and you have now un-installed 26, your files will not be able to locate the un-installed libraries.
You will need to link to the monolith and migration libraries in the Archicad 28 program folder
I am not sure how the BIMcloud works as I don't use it.
But it would be similar, you have to make sure your files can find the libraries required.

I have to re-load the same AC26 library into the same AC28 file each time upon open. Everything is on the same local drive (no BIMcloud) with AC26 still installed, and nothing has moved location(s). Both app version folders are actually within the same master Graphisoft folder as well.
So I open A28, open the file. There are dots in empty openings where doors / windows should be. Open Library Manager, click 'Add', scroll to 'Archicad Library 26.lcf' in the AC 26 folder, click open, click 'Load Anyway' in the pop-up, click 'Reload and Apply' at the lower left, close out of Library Manager and everything then displays / works fine.
Do this every time upon open.

I don't know why you have to choose "Load Anyway'.
This should not happen.
Maybe whatever reason this is happening is why you have to load each time you open the file.
It should not prompt you with this.

It's in a pop-up window that comes up right after selecting the AC26 library file. Selecting 'consolidate' does nothing and the library parts still show as missing in the model.

Archicad Library 28 is actually the 27 monolith library.
If you have this library loaded, you do not need to load the 26 library as well.
You only need one complete library - either 26 or 28.
If anything you just need the migration libraries loaded as well as 28.
The Archicad 28 (27) monolith library is not the same as the 28 Global Libraries (library packs).
There is no migration to the 28 Global libraries from older libraries - it is a completely new system.
So load what they call the 'Archicad Library 28' as well as the migration libraries.
