I've spotted a bug in Wall Niche Rectangular 21 object. There's a tickbox " Hole has wall's side surface" but it does not change anything when switched on. Can someone confirm it is a bug and report it?

I think there is a bug but it is not exactly what you are thinking.
When there is a surface material set for the nice (i.e. not GENERAL), then this 'Hole has wall's side surface' has no effect.
This option should be greyed out when the niche material is set and there should be an option to set the side and rear niche materials in my opinion.
If the niche surface material is left as 'GENERAL' then this option does have an effect.
However when it is 'ON' the niche uses the wall face surface material.
When it is 'OFF' the niche uses the wall side surface material.
That is definitely a bug.
To report a bug you are best to contact your local distributor.
It may be seen here but I would not rely on that.
Barry.

Hello guys,
This is not necessarily a bug, the tool was designed this way (albeit a really long time ago).
The idea is that you choose the surface in the surface drop-down, and if it is set to GENERAL, then the checkbox decides what is the GENERAL surface: the side or the edge of the wall.
Another way of thinking of this behaviour is that the surface will automatically be defined by the wall surfaces (with the checkbox), but if the user defines their own value, that has a higher priority than the other setting.
Anyhow, I will let the Product Designers know about this, so that they can decide to make it more streamlined.
Regards,

When 'General' material is set and checkbox is on then the niche uses the wall front surface and not the side surface.
When it is off then it uses the side surface.
It would be great if we could control the side and rear surface of the niche.
