Can I add a picture to my archicad?

I am designing an exhibition gallery and wondered if there was a way to add the paintings into the gallery at the exact location. (at the right scale)

Thank you in advance for any help

As I recall there is a painting object that you can use. But what I've done is this:

place a wall that is as wide, deep, and high as the frame (say 3' x 4' x 1") Then place a niche into the wall that is the size of the picture and 1/2" deep (so in this case 2'-8" x 3'-8" x 1/2"). Then set the niche tool to a material that is your painting. Align the material in 3D and you're set.

To make the material:

create a material that has the painting as a jpg. Set the jpg size to your niche size (2'-8" x 3'-8").

A little complex, but really versatile and fast once you've done it once. And it uses skills you should learn regardless (niche, align 3d texture, and material creation). If you use a generic material to represent 'painting' (aged copper for instance), then you can skip the material making and aligning.

You cam also use the parapicture object in the Object Depository.

It may be a little simpler to use...

Hi Link
I am probably going to sound dull here! but having downloaded it I can't seem to save it or find it in the library. I have never added a GDL to the library before so I'm not sure what to do? I'm sure some newbies to Archicad have come across this problem before. Well i'm hoping they have so i'm not on my own.

Thanks for your help

Well I don't know where you downloaded it to, or if it is zipped up, but you need to load the .gsm file.

For quick and dirty, try dragging and dropping it into your floor plan. If you'd like to manage it a little better, then place it into one of your loaded library folders in your OS and reload your libraries.

It really depends on the format of your loaded libraries.

Thank you

I have worked out how to add it to my library and placed it on my floor plan. I'll have a go at using it now.

I have placed the para picture on the floor plan but a window pops up saying

' Can't find picture file: park plan pct, called at line 6 in the 3D script of file parapicture GSM.?'

I have closed the window and the parapicture is still on the plan, but I don't know how to use it?

Is there any where in Archicad I can look for some advice?

Thanks Link
