Casework - Backsplash

Hello all,

I am used to my other program to "automatically" wrap the countertop when my base cabinets touch a wall. How do I get the backsplash to do this without having to create a little solid for it?.

Another thing I don't worry about it is that whenever my base cabinets transition from having a back wall and portion of the cabinet ends up having no back wall to rest against but instead is now part of a "peninsula" the backsplash needs not to be on the "open side" where there's no wall.
How do I get the backsplash to only be where there's wall and not where there's is not. (Now please read carefully) Same base cabinet half has backing the other half does not. But this program keeps adding a full backsplash!! Intelligent programming I guess...

I would suggest turning off the backsplash completely and drawing the splash with a short wall. (Make it a Favorite so you never have to set it again. Also, make it a different layer group than the main wall.) You will have far more control that way than even your "other" program offers.

Frankly, I would consider turning off the cabinet's countertop and draw that manually as a slab, too. Again, far more control, and it will take you probably a whole two minutes to do the countertop and splash combined. You can also magic wand a custom edge detail (beam or wall), if you want.

So, ArchiCAD Objects are not able to figure out what is going on.
Thank you for the workaround, I appreciate the response.

I will add this to the wishlist, we are paying top $$ for this program.

The kind of automation you are looking for does not exist in AC, and I'm not sure if I would want it. Automation is great when it works as you expect, but sometimes doing things manually correctly the first time saves time overall when it doesn't.

I would also add that, in compensation, AC automates a lot of the PROCESS. For example, features like the renovation filters, change manager, trace and reference, and overall speed of the User Interface can greatly speed up the overall workflow.

Please do not misunderstand my comments, I've been using AC for quite sometime as well.

I am no fan of any single software as they are only different tools for the same purpose.

Improvements are always needed in every software, while I have to disagree that automation is not desired, it is for me, and I wished AC can improve this portion of the software and make it better so "intelligent" objects can figure out what is happening without much user interaction.

Renovation filters do not work as advertised, tried and tested over the years, too many glitches exists and AC has "stalled" improving. (I am sure I noted this before here).

They made massive improvements on integrating Rhino/Grassh.. (I am sure it will help the large outfits) but, as individual users we need to pitch in and keep requesting improvements in other areas.

Thanks again, I am taking your suggestions and going to test/try them to see if the "workaround" is productive for me.
