Hello

does anyone know if its possible to have detailed door showing on floor plans, using the projected with over head setting, and still show the opening line?

Hi strawbale,

When you choose the Projected/Projected with Overhang setting, both the door, wall and opening line under the door will be generated based on these 3D elements. Therefore if you literally cut the 3D model and look down, that should be the same what you see on this floor plan.

If you experience otherwise, please send me your file in a pm and I shall take a look what is happening there.

Best regards,
Csaba

Hi thansk for your reply.

Im not sure if we are using the term" opening line" for the same thing.

For me this means the symbolic line that shows how the door or window opens, usually a curved line.

thanks

Unfortunately, this is a limitation of this Projected display method that it does not display anything symbolic within the 2D of the Door, it generated a horizontal cut and displays only that. Would be great to have this option though.

As Csaba said the Projected with Overhead view is a projected view of the 3D object.
What you see in 3D is what you will see in plan.
So yes it can be done if you script the swing into the 3D model.
But you will see it in all 3D views.

Thanks for explaining that.

I have no experience of GDL or ho wit works, I was hoping that floor plan views of objects could have a 2d lines superimposed ontop. I m surprised they cant.

This will show the level of 2D detail as scripted in the library part.
This is similar to what you asked for originally so if it is what you are looking for then your problem is solved.

Originally you asked for ... "does anyone know if its possible to have detailed door showing on floor plans, using the projected with over head setting, and still show the opening line?"

So I think we all assumed you had a reason to be wanting to use the projected with overhead view (a true representation of the 3D object).

But if you just want a more detailed 2D view then what you have discovered should work.
