Favorite GDL objects

Once you have saved GDL objects as Favorites, how do you update the default settings for any one object?

Also, is there a way to reorder them in the Favorites palette?

For example, I want to have the BEDS display not in alphabetical order (Double/King/Queen/Twin) but in ascending order of bed sizes. The palette doesn't seem to support drag and drop and I don't see a reorder option anywhere.

I use ArchiCAD 14.

If I understand you question right, then you just double-click the desired Favorite to apply its settings to the default values of its Tool.

You can click either the type or Name Column Title at the top of the list. It will sort by Type first, then Name. or by Name first, then Type. It can sort ascending or descending order for both columns.

In regard to my first question, here's what I want to do:

Let's say I have saved an aluminum+glass sliding door with 2 panels of 90 cm each as one of my Favorites; later I decide to change it to 3 panels of 75cm.

Or let's say I don't have time to specify all the details of my favorite, so I just specify the above parameters and save it; then later, when I have the time, I add all the little details like door hardware, etc. -- it is the very same favorite, but with more details.

In each of the above cases, how can I update the Favorite's parameters without having to Save As and give it a different name? Does AC 14 support Favorites editing?

No, you cannot edit Favorites as such.
You have to have the proper settings set as default or as the settings of a placed instance. Then you can save either the deafult settings or the settings of a placed instance as a Favorite. Or you can redefine an existing Favorite.

So I would do this:
1. Place an element (e.g. Door).
2. Apply the Favorite to it by double-clicking.
3. Select the element, go to its settings dialog.
4. Change the settings to the values you want, click OK to accept changes.
5. With the element selected, redefine the Favorite with the selected element.

Once you have placed an object using the favourite it is then an independent object and its settings can be adjusted without affecting any other objects.

You can change a favourites settings (redefine) but it will not affect any objects that where placed with that favourite. Only new objects placed with the amended favourite will have the new settings.

To update an existing object select it and then double click on the new amended favourite to pass those parameters on to the selected object.
But beware it will reset all parameters to those that are set in the favourite.

Unfortunately the favourite list is alphabetical so you will need to rename the beds to something like "Bed - 0900 - single" , "Bed - 1500 - double" and "Bed - 1800 - queen" etc., to get them to list in the order you want.
