I seem to remember that you can access the icon in the "more info" box , but I don't remember how to paste an image of the detail or plan itself.
This of course would allow you to see the actual detail in a small size without opening the detail/file itself.
Thanks,
Don Lee

Open a library element in the GDL-editor. Open a window " Preview Picture " (the lowermost button). A command "To insert" insert preliminary copied figure. To insert figures it is better at once made on the size 128х128 than pixels. Otherwise there will be distortions.
So it is made in OS Windows

Don:
For ArchiCAD Project files, go to Window>Open Project Preview. This preview is 128 x 128 pixels, so anything larger or smaller will be resized to fit when copied into this window.
I am using OSX.3.9, and if I select the file in the Finder, go to File<Get Info, select the small icon at the top of the dialog box, I can paste a custom icon image for the file here (do not select the image seen under "Preview").

David:
Thanks for the reply. To clarify, do I copy the detail itself, paste it into the project view window and then copy that image into the Finder Get Info window?
It works, but I found that I can copy the opened detail (or any part of it) and then paste that image directly into Get Info window and skip the Project View window altogether.
I never really knew what the Project View window was for really.
By the way, pasting into the small icon at the top of the dialogue box is not very obvious. I kept trying to paste into the large icon.
Thanks,
Don

I apologize, that has misunderstood a question and has written how to add the image in a window of preliminary viewing for library element.

The Project Preview saves the image as part of the file, rather than depending on the Finder, so the Project Preview should be cross platform (when opening a file from ArchiCAD, this preview will be the file's icon; according the ArchiCAD 9 Reference Guide, this also changes the icon in Windows Explorer). The Project Preview does not affect the Finder icon, so if you pasted the image into Project Preview and leave the Finder icon as is, the file will have the generic ArchiCAD icon in the Finder, but your custom icon when opening the file from inside ArchiCAD. So, yes, you can skip pasting into the Project Preview if you want the custom icon in the Finder, but are not concerned with what happens if the file goes to Windows.
I think one of the enhancements of OSX vs. OS9 is the scaling of these icons, the icon size was smaller in OS9, so creating a larger one for Project Preview used to be more important.
Some one jump in if I have any of this wrong.
