This Pergo stuff is second rate:
1: The custom sizing allows you to make the board bigger.
2: Why bother, unless you need to quantize it.
3: My approach: make a surface with the pergo texture.
put it on a floor slab.
4: Still lousy - see attached. Image is unevenly lit in the texture photo, therefore pulses as a surface.
I've outlined a way to make a convincing wood floor in my book. Yes, you DO have to make it from individual boards. That is easy enough. You make an array of boards [slabs] with some length variety, save as module. Place in a floor plan and use wall to trim the array to fit the room.
As for the surface: Pick the part of the Pergo texture that is typical for the actual sample. In Photoshop, make three variations of level. Make four materials and randomly assign them to different boards. This is getting close to reasonable wood flooring.
