Can anybody recommend any good GDL tutorials or reference guides suitable for beginners?

The standard reference guide which comes with AC is sometimes quite cryptic but you will need to refer to it as you go along. However for starters, (no pun intended) work with David Nicholson Cole's brilliant "GDL Cookbook" and "Introduction to Object Making". You can download them both from the GDL Resources section of ArchiCad East.
