Goodies - Grid Tool - Problems!!

Hi!

We're using the Grid Tool and are having a few problems...

(we're using AC11 and the file is teamworked)

1) When we return to our elevation views we're getting multiple dimension strings....5 or 6 in the same place. If we delete them, they'll show up again later on.
2) They're not showing up in our sections

We did follow the directions that came with the grid tool, along with the archiwiki about it...

SO, I need help with these things:

1) how do we fully delete the grid tool to re-insert a new one
2) what settings do we affect to make sure NO dimensions insert with the grid tool
3) what is the best method for editing an existing grid?

Any help would be appreciated!

AND, if the grid tool is not such a great idea....whats a good way to handle matching grids between the floor plan, sections, elevations...??

THANKS!!!

Yes, it is Quick Layers that we want to remain, and often does not. Arg.
The Quick Layers Palette settings are not saved in the WE: as discussed in this post

Thanks for the link, Laura. Some good advice in that thread. Hooray, now I get to make custom toolbars for the office again. Nothing like a little job security!

Regarding the grid tool adding additional grid lines in the elevations...
I have installed the hotfix 1114 (long before I started this project), but I am STILL getting the double grid lines in elevations. The 2nd set is placed on the Archicad layer, and as many times as I try to delete them, the little buggers keep coming back.

Any other suggestions, as the hot fix does not seem to be working for me?
thanks-

Kathleen,

We used to have a similar problem and others with the Goodies Grid Tool. In v10 the Refresh options in the section dialog allowed us to control the updating of the grid elements separate to the model rebuild. For some reason this feature has been removed in v11 and none of our solutions now work.

Can anyone at Graphisoft tell us why this feature was removed in v11?

I'd rather be sailing.

Exactly

We've resorted to placing the Goodies Grid on a no-plot layer and manually placing grid Objects in Plan/Elevation/Section. The Goodies Grid is still there to assist in coordination, but it's display is so unpredictable we've had to resort to this NOT BIM solution.

Well ...

Open the S/E, set everything as you want, update the view. And then on to each next ...

WITHOUT opening a S or E again, go to the plan, select all S/E, set the Grid tool refresh to Manual.

Everything will stay as it was.

When you have to change, it's all over again.

Personally, I had much more luck in 11 than in 10 ... the above workaround was developed in 10.

Djordje,

This is exactly how we used to do it in V10. However I cannot find the ability to change the Grid tool refresh in the V11 Section Settings. Where have they moved it to?

Fir various reasons (read version compatibility) I am spending more time in 10 than I would like ...

Frankly, I did not have trouble with the Grid tool in 11, which is nothing short of amazing. Only three versions and umptillion updates ...

The setting is there, I can't remember where at the moment, and all the dongles are at the office ...

Double click the Grid Element Tool in the Toolbox to open the Grid Element Settings dialog.
It's different between what it shows and what is should be.

Somebody should fix this.

Check you settings in the Work Environment.
Maybe in the Tool Settings Dialog Boxes area, Grid Settings Dialog panels are set to HIDDEN, that's why you do not see them.
