Invalid 3D Symbol - AC20 NOR

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi,
I'm trying to save buildings as objects to use in a model of the site.
This used to work fine up until AC19, but now I get a 'Invalid 3D Symbol' message and nothing shows in 3D.

Is this a bug or a feature?

I've allways had mixed results with saving entire buildings as object. Sometimes the model looks fine, sometimes parts are missing/not looking correct.

My workaround for this problem has been: export the needed layers (don't forget to included hidden SEO layers if you have those) as a module, create a new 'export' pln with only one story. Insert the module stories all on that one story, adjust the height as needed to rebuild the model. Export this one story as a module.

You only need to do this once, as the nested modules will update from your original model just fine.

You can now place this one story module of your model wherever you like, regardless of story settings of your 'master plan' file.

Note that this is only useful for 3D presentations.

Assembled floorplans as it were, will not work this way.

You might run into one or two problems with SEO due to not being able to re-establish SEO of elements on different stories, but I am ussually able to resolve this with reassigning elements to different home stories as needed and in some cases duplicating hidden SEO elements.

It is just a method I use, might not be best, but it might work for you. As I wrote, once I get it working, it is very easy to update from the original model to my 'master plan' 3D presentation files by re-publishing the original module.
