I'm currently working on a project using windows by Marvin. Unfortunately, the library found here: http://www.marvin.com/default.aspx?page=3D_CAD_Symbols_ArchiCAD does not seem to contain any windows which are not rectangular. It seems very odd to me that such a big-name window and door manufacturer would not provide any arch-top or round-top windows in their collection after putting forth the time and effort to create a collection of GDL objects at all. So I'm wondering if anyone has used these objects and perhaps there is a parameter that I've missed which allows you, for example, to turn a double hung picture window into an arch-top picture window, etc. Or, perhaps someone is aware of another Marvin collection that is available elsewhere.
I've contacted Marvin at the number provided on the linked page and I've been told that there are no plans to update their collection any time soon, which is very disappointing. However, I got the impression that the person I spoke with was not very familiar with the GDL collection and possibly not even aware that Marvin provided one, so I may have been misinformed.
It is quite unfortunate that I'm unable to use ArchiCAD's wonderful scheduling feature to provide accurate and detailed window schedules if I don't have all of the proper objects from the same manufacturer.
I really hope we can get more manufacturers to embrace BIM and maintain accurate and updated collections. If someone has any information on how best to encourage them to do so, I would appreciate it greatly and would love to assist in any on-going efforts.
Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
