Perforated Metal Look

Hello,

Does anyone know how I can emulate a perforated metal look on a wall. It's a dividing wall.

I tried creating a wall and putting a bunch of little circular windows in it, but that was taking forever to generate in 3D.

Any other approaches?

Does anyone have a perforated metal material with an alpha channel???

Thanks

Dwight,

I used your setting and came up with this.

If I wanted to show more metal and less holes would I have to create another "dot" pattern to use?

Why is the metal part so dark?

Thanks as usual for all your help..

Erase a hole.

Metal part needs more reflection.

This is aimed at Dwight, but if anyone else can help I would appreciate it (he probably would too, he's got a book to get out!)

I have an image of a school crest which I want to show on a gable of a new building. What do I have to do to the image to get the white background to become transparent? I am using it in conjunction with the ParaPicture object Dwight postsed a while ago, and PaintShop for image editing.

Thanks

You'll make an alpha channel mask to allow ArchiCAD to make the image transparent - how to do that in Paintshop Perp (attitude) is not for me to know.

The parapicture has a checkbox for the alpha channel I believe.

use best render method.

Thanks for your help Dwight. Got the mask to work after a bit of experimentation.

I just stumbled across this thread today, and I found it to be rather intriguing, I didn't realise that lightworks used the red colour channel for alpha... very interesting. anyway though, I tried to emulate this material n my machine, and I can't seem to get it right, the holes are just showing up as black dots... what am I missing here almighty Dwight (or anyone else who wants to answer )

cheers,
Dan

BTW where's your book? I want, I want, I want !!
