Problems: GDL Object Publisher 2.0 & GDL Object Explorer

I have created some GDL objects and included them in a new library folder. I have been able to load the new library into ArchiCAD 8.1(R1) but I am having problems opening the library in GDL Explorer and publishing it with GDL Publisher.

There seems to be a master.gdl file missing from the library's root directory.

Am I missing a step in the process? How does one create the master.gdl file that is missing?

Please help.

Abramo,
To activate your special, Warning use the special menu with caution
You will need to go into regedit and activate you special menu. Hkey current user--->Software--->Graphisoft--->ArchiCAD--->ArchiCAD(Your version of ArchiCAD) then on the right hand side you will see Special Menu, change the value form 0 to 1, btw don't have ArchiCAD running while you do the editing of you registry. When you start up ArchiCAD
you will see the special menu.

Then see the attached image of what you need to do to save out your own MasterGDL file.

I was able to create the master.gdl file and load it into the explorer.

Thanks for the reference. I appended the materials, fills and lines to my master.gdl but I am still having a problem picking up the materials in my objects. They still report materials as MISSING (see attachment).

Hello Abramo,

If you can run the object explorer then the master should
be basically OK formatted and located.

A couple of questions;
-did you append any materials to your Master.GDL file?
-are there any line types or fill types visible in the menus?
-what is the parameter type for the material -> material or text?

Hello Abramo,

The last question about the parameter type means that
if you want to have just limited number of materials in
the object's menu and at the same time you don't want
to add those object-specific materials to the plan materials
(for walls etc.) you can add the material definitions to
the master and value scripts of the object itself.

The object can also have all the other materials of the plan file too
if you 'open' the value list -> just add the key word <custom>
to the end of value list. In this case the user can manually write in
a name of any material. The parameter type should in this case
be text.

At least materials added this way should be visible with the object explorer.

Hello Juha,

Thanks for the information about the materials. I obviously need to do more work on my GDL objects for web publishing.

This was an initial exploration into GDL web publishing. It has got merit, but requires some in-depth expertise which I personally don't have. I will need to pass this on to a more experienced user.
