Hello all, we have run into a curious (and serious) problem as we are in the process of migrating our existing template to use the new Global Library. We use the SPA version of Archicad, and our current template was created from scratch from a new file based on the default ArchiCAD template, probably in version 26 or 27 (I'm not sure which one, but it was recent).
So our usage of Archicad is all in Spanish, coming from the SPA version. As an example, see screenshot below of our surfaces, from a template file opened in Archicad 27:
Now, if I open the surfaces in our template file that we are migrating to Archicad 28 and onto the Global Library, all of our surfaces are now lost. See below:
So to investigate this, if I open the loaded libpacks, and go to the contents of the Surface Catalog.libpack file, I see that the structure of this is all in English, which is of course the nature of having a single global library.
So, our surfaces are not finding the correct file name for the image to display the surface in 3D, because it is looking for a name in the SPA version and now it is all in English. However, in exploring this, I noticed that the contents of the surface catalog.libpack also contains a folder called Dictionaries, which contains a list of languages. So not sure how this comes into play, and if there is any configuration that we need to do for this to convert the previous surface catalog names in Spanish to the ones in English?
I am also noticing that other areas of Archicad have now become a mix of languages. So, even though we are running the SPA version of Archicad, for example, in the Model View Options (see below), there is now a mix of panels, some in Spanish and some in English. We are also noticing this mix in other parts of Archicad. So this leads me to believe that there is a default language configuration that we need to enable somewhere? Does anybody know what this could be and where this needs to be set up?
I did find this article in the Graphisoft Community site, that talks about the migration of the Monolithic Libraries to the Global Library System. In this article there is a mention about this matter, where under the "MIGRATION PATHS TO ARCHICAD 28" item 2.8 speaks about the existence of a library localization preferences.
Unfortunately, clicking this link takes me to a page that basically tells me that to set the file in the desired language, I should open a new Archicad file using the template file of the Archicad language that I want to use. So, of course, this is of no use when migrating an existing file, in this case, our template file. See below:
So basically we are totally stuck. I've explored throughout the Archicad interface for anything resembling an option to change the language localization, to no success. Any help is urgently needed, thank you!
Operating system used: Mac Apple Silicon 15.1.1 Sequoia

Hi Roderick, great to hear from you! Try the following;
1. Open the Edit GDL Library Part Palette:
2. Open the Command Library Localization Preferences:
3. Add the Spanish language and move it to the top of the list:
The surfaces textures should load correctly now... Hope it helps!

Hi Jaime, hope you are doing very well.
Thanks, this did the trick. I kept looking for this option within the project preferences but since I've never had time to dwell deep into the world of GDL I didn't even consider the Edit GDL as an alternative for the solution.
