Roof Accessories

Does anyone know, where in the world, I can find paramertic GDL roof vents? I am looking for half round, sheet metal, dormer / eyebrow roof vents that can be resized and placed on any roof pitch. Looked and looked, but I can't find one for free or for sale.

Thanks

Make the roof first (using the roof tool).
With the roof selected..... open: Extras> Accessories> Roof Accessories
Set the parameters for the roof surface.... hit OK.

It will apply the surface to the selected roof.

An additional question:
I want the standing seams on both sides of the ridge of a traditional saddle roof to align - but it seems impossible - when I apply the tool, one roof halve starts counting seams at one gable and the other at the other. I have aligned the pivot lines to make them mirror each other (that was an old tip), but it doesn't help. And there's no "first strip width" parameter. Any ideas?

GS is well aware of this problem, but apparently it's harder to solve than anyone outside of the programming department knows.

Have you tried mirroring a copy of the roof with the seam attached. I vaguely remembering this having somewhat sucessful results in limited scenarios.

For what it is worth, I have been creating the standing seams for metal roofs by:

1. Pick up the main roof properties, then creating one seam by raising the pivot point of the seam by the vertical depth of the main roof and drawing one seam.
2. Multiply (Edit > Multiply... > Spread... and set the desired spacing) this seam a set distance over the roofs.
3. Split these seams at valleys and hips.
4. Mirror a copy over ridges, valleys and hips.

The seams all end up where I want them, can be easily modified for odd conditions, can be shown in plan, elevation and perspective, and I don't find this takes too long for the results.

I'm with David on this one. It often seems to take longer to get the automatic tools to do almost what you want than it does to model it precisely with the regular tools. (Doesn't work for roof tile of course )

As anyone found were the standing seam object is in AC 10? I can’t seem to find it. I found a corrugated roof object. But nothing like extras>roof accessories>standing seam, like in previous versions. Is there a different in objects between the demo versions and the licensed version? Thanks

You will need to "load" the accessories and add-on from the GS web site.

GS did not include all of the "Goodies" in the AC 10 install.

Go to: "Help/ArchiCAD 10 Goodies" pull-down in AC.

If you want to get really clever download the free GDL Toolbox and model the actual profiles (you can extrude shapes, and then rotate them - adjusting the overall length is easy within the toolbox).

BTW: We are waiting to receive AC10 - does anyone know if GDL Toolbox works in 10?

(I really hope so).
