if you set the resolution to 4 then the circle becomes a sqaure, but you will have to make a copy of the object so you can have the 2d be a square as well.

that's a solution a least for the 3d view but I need a full solution.

I'm having the same issue. How can I change the resolution? Is it in 2d and 3d scripts?
